Five Baptized!

5 Baptized!

The Lord continues to move at Resilient Church! And the most exciting part of this month’s update is we got to baptize 5 of our people, celebrating their newfound life in Jesus! Check out their testimonies below!

Joseph Nyoni

I grew up in the church back home with my Dad being one of the leaders and of the many non negotiable things in an African household, going to church is top 2. At first I liked it when I was young but then as I grew older into my teenage years I thought it was lame and committment to God was for the older people who had no interesting lives. Many years later, there were programs for youths to preach and I kinda had no choice so I just decided to read the Bible just once so that I would impress people by telling them a bunch of verses.First time by myself I opened to a passage speaking about the kind of people headed for hell and it described me in entirety and I was fearful, so I started reading the Bible more looking for help and an escape plan and my whole life changed.

I was baptized as a baby, and I grew up in the church. During COVID, I started going to a local youth group. One of the first or second weeks we were there, we talked about believers baptism. Naturally, I had a ton of questions. So I talked with my youth pastor and one thing lead to another and he asked me how I knew I was going to heaven, and I couldn’t answer it so he shared the gospel with me. I went home, and I didn’t want to spend another day not knowing where I was going. So I talked with God and He saved me. Because I had been baptized as a baby, I wasn’t thinking too much about it until about a year ago. But I pretty much just dismissed the idea. After I got to USD, the idea of baptism was coming up everywhere and I couldn’t ignore Him any longer. God then put the right people in my life to give me the final push and now I’m here!!

Zeke Mata

I have been a follower of Jesus for almost my entire life, and for the most port I didn't understand what that meant. I took his love and grace for granted and become spiritually lost. Over the last couple of years I have been better with my commitment to the Lord and being born again today is not only showing my commitment, but my total surrender to the Lord's will. I no longer want to follow my own personal wills, but the will of my savior as he knows who I can become and can guide me every step of the way

Dane Greaves

Up until this past August I did not seriously seek a relationship with God, but I wanted to change that  when I came to USD. Resilient church and Cru introduced me to the unbelievable love and community found in the followers of Christ. Since August I have only wanted to dive deeper into my faith, and I believe this Baptism is the next step in my journey.

Katelyn Roel

I was baptised as a baby and grew up in a family that went to church and I was very involved but as far as a deep relationship with Jesus I would say I did not have that deep of a personal relationship. When I got older I did not have a good image of myself and was trying to find acceptance in others by people pleasing and drinking my feelings. I decided that was not the path I wanted, so I went to Teen Challenge where I found what a deep relationship with Christ looked and felt like and began to dive deeper.  However, when I got out it, my deep relationship with Christ slowly started to fade and my focus on him went away. Last year, was a hard year for our family and I decided it was time to get back to church and I did not settle on a church until I came to Resilent. Resilent felt like home, it felt like I mattered to people. So today I stand before my brothers and sisters in Christ wanting to be baptized to make a bold statement of my faith and continue to dive deeper into my relationship with the Lord.

Sundays Are Hopping!

Sunday mornings continue to be a highlight to our week, and the start of the Spring semester has been so exciting, bringing in new faces and new attendance records. We’ve seen 3 weekends in a row of attendance over 100 people, with a large percentage of that being students and young adults from USD.

In light of February being “Love Month,” we’re talking all about God’s intentions for romantic relationships in a new series called “Waiting, Dating, & Mating.” We even got some little Resilient Church candy hearts to commemorate this series ❤️

Bob Ross Painting Night

Our Resilient Students College Ministry continues to host a variety of events to bring our students together, including an evening of artsy inspiration by none other than Bob Ross himself. Students painted their “happy trees” and shared in community, all while voting on a winner to take home a Bob Ross figurine. It was a blast!

Prayer Requests

  • One of our outreach events we’re hosting this month is a Waiting, Dating, and Mating Q&A event, where people can ask a panel of married couples any question they want about relationships, sex, marriage, and singleness. We anticipate this being a very insightful event for our people, especially for college students and young adults who are in the throw of asking all of these questions. Pray for God to move powerfully in this event!

  • Our Casas Por Cristo missions trip is fully funded! Our team of 15 people will be traveling to Juarez, Mexico during USD’s Spring Break to build a home for a family in need. Continue to pray for God to move powerfully in the family and our team!

  • It’s budget season! Pray for us and our finance team as we meet to discuss what God is calling us to do this next year, and to steward the financial resources he has blessed us with for optimum impact while also ensuring sustainability for the future.

Thanks again for partnering with us to expand the kingdom of heaven to Vermillion. We truly couldn’t do this without the support of your prayers and generosity!

– Pastor Jake
