We Built a House!

There is so much to celebrate from another amazing month of ministry at Resilient Church here in Vermillion, SD. Let’s get into it!

We Built a House!

Let’s start with the most exciting update: We built a house!

We sent a team of 14 Resilient attenders to Juarez, Mexico, to build a home for a family in partnership with Casas Por Cristo. In just 2.5 days of work, this family now has a home that will relieve many of their life strains and burdens, setting them and their upcoming generations for success and a life well lived.

Casas Por Cristo—which means “Houses For Christ” in English—is one of our missionary partners. Their goal is to preach the good news of Jesus while providing families in need with a good home, so they may thrive and flourish.

This is our second Casas build, and it has become a tradition to go on this missions trip during USD’s spring break, so our students especially can take advantage of this amazing opportunity. God is so good, and we can’t wait to share more stories after the team gets home this week!

Sunday Services

We love Sundays! It’s been so amazing to continue seeing new faces and our community and culture grow, with steady attendance averaging in the 90s—a 30% increase from this time last year!

We spent the month of February in a series called, Waiting, Dating, and Mating, where we talked all about God’s intentions for singleness, dating, sex, and marriage. It was such a fun series, with cool stories coming to the forefront of how God has been working in many of our couples’ lives!

Waiting, Dating, & Mating Q&A

One of the events we hosted last month was a Q&A event for our people to ask a panel whatever questions they have about singleness, dating, sex, and marriage. It was one of my favorite events we’ve done to date! Check out our podcast episode below if you want to listen in on the Q&A.

Collegiate Night of Prayer

In place of our monthly Resilient Students worship night, we gathered with a few other students from other campus ministries for the National Collegiate Day of Prayer on Thursday, February 29. This was a national event for colleges and universities all across the nation to intercede for their campus, and see God do a new work.

Generosity Initiative:
Polar Plunge & Special Olympics

As you may recall, each month we are giving $1000 away to special causes and charities that make Vermillion a better place. And this last month’s recipient was the Special Olympics of South Dakota! This is such an empowering event for uniquely abled people all across our state, and we couldn’t have been more thrilled to be a sponsor for the Polar Plunge in Vermillion to raise funds for the Special Olympics. In fact, I got to do the polar plunge with 4 other Resilient attenders! Check out the video and pictures above!

Special Announcement Coming Soon!

Lastly, I want to tease that we have a special announcement coming that pertains to you—our supporters, prayer warriors, and advocates! We’re hard at work with this announcement, and expect a roll out next month in April!

That’s everything for this month! Continue to pray for our ministry here in Vermillion—that God will keep granting us momentum and sustainability, so that we can see people come to a saving faith in Jesus, and see our community and university transformed!
